Gujarat's health and family welfare department took to social media on Wednesday to announce that an 85-year-old woman died at Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital due to coronavirus.
A few days ago, a male patient had died at Surat's Mahavir Hospital due to COVID-19.
The department said the woman had travelled abroad and after developing symptoms of COVID-19, she was admitted to the Civil Hospital on March 22. The department also said she was suffering from many complications.
This is the first COVID-19 death from Ahmedabad.
The health department officials said that more than 20,000 people in Gujarat have been quarantined.
The department also claimed that so far health teams have conducted survey of over one crore households.
