In a tragic incident, a newly married man was killed and his wife grievously injured when a gift they received for their wedding reception exploded. The incident took place in Balangir district in Odisha on Friday. The grandmother of the groom too was killed in the explosion.
The groom died in the hospital while his grandmother died on the spot. The wife of the man was critically injured and is still undergoing treatment in the hospital. The package exploded when the newly married couple tried to open it.
According to police, the package was received during the wedding reception. The police are trying to find out what kind of explosive was used and who gave the package.
A dog squad and forensic team have been pressed into action and an investigation has been started prior to this accident.
