In order to woo big investors and industrial houses, the Yogi Adityanath government is organising a two–day UP Investors’ Summit in Lucknow, commencing from February 21.

The two-day mega summit will be attended by business magnates and senior politicians. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit on February 21, while President Ram Nath Kovind will address the summit on the concluding day.

This for the first time that such a large-scale event is being held in the state capital. So far, the government has received investment proposals worth more than Rs 250,000 crore.

According to official sources, around 5,000 delegates have confirmed their participation in the summit. This includes representatives from countries like Japan, Finland, the Netherlands, Mauritius and Slovakia.

To provide an industry-friendly business environment in the state to businesses, the UP State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) has been endeavouring hard to finalise the allocation of over 25,000 acres of land across the state to set up various industrial units.

Adityanath and his government have been making vigorous preparations for the event in the past many months. To attract investors, Adityanath had held road shows in various states a couple of months ago.

This included road shows at six major cities—New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad—in the run-up to the summit.

The chief minister has already met industrialists like Ratan Tata, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani, and Kumar Manglam Birla in this connection.

State Industries Minister Satish Mahana said, “UP has a very conducive atmosphere for setting up industries; the investors will feel a change in industrial atmosphere of the state during and after the summit.”

He also added that there is no dearth of land in the state for setting up industrial units.

The government has identified the land near Greater Noida, Agra Expressway and Poorvanchal Expressway for this purpose. The authorities have been directed to ensure availability of land, so that those interested in setting up their units could choose the land of their preference.

In all, there are nine industrial development authorities in UP, including UPSIDC, Noida, Greater Noida, Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), Satharia Industrial Development Authority (SIDA), LIDA, Yamuna Expressway Authority and UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) that have been working hard to make the summit a success.

Talking about the summit, an enthusiastic Adityanath said that the state has shunned the tag of Bimaru Rajya (sick state) and this summit will pave the way for major investments in the state and UP will run on the path of development.

Among the business magnates who are likely to be present in the summit are Mukesh Ambani, Tata Group chairman N. Chandrasekaran, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Gautam Adani, Subhash Chandra, Sudhir Mehta, Sanjiv Puri, Hemant Kanoria, Kulin Lalbhai, G.M. Rao and Subramanian Sarma.

On the inaugural day of the event, Adityanath will host a dinner for the industrialists.
