What we would like to see in GOT spin-offs

Season 7 of the Game of Thrones met fan expectations to an extent. The much-awaited Arya-Sansa reunion took place, Petyr Baelish met his sticky end and, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen hooked-up. HBO is now teasing us with a host of spin-offs. Most of them are touted to be prequel stories. Some of the spin-offs are, apparently, not even set in Westeros.

Now, among these prequels, King Aegon's ascent to power seems like an option. This could be interesting, though Aegon's rise to power may seem awfully similar to what Dany has done in the original.

What would really make a great spin-off is Robert's rebellion including Catelyn's sister, Lysa's wedding to John Arrys; Ned Stark's past which would involve Lyanna and something about the past of the Iron Islands— that is, story of Theon and Yara Greyjoy's ancestors. This would definitely be a good story to watch on the big screen. It would answer a lot of questions like how did Theon come to live with the Starks, was Lysa's marriage to John Arrys a political one, where did Ned Stark and family originally come from— since they have good knowledge of what is beyond the Wall, it looks like they were first of the wildlings who managed to cross to the other side. Why is Ned so bitter towards Baelish—is it only because of Catelyn or is there a family feud behind it? Also, who exactly are the Dothraki and how come they live in another continent? Why do they strongly believe that they cannot cross the sea—were they warriors who were banished years and years ago?

One of the spin-offs is called Dunk and the Egg loosely translating to Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire future King Aegon V. The storyline could be interesting, but, as mentioned earlier, the tone could be quite close to Game of Thrones, unless the writers aim for something different.

Yet, another interesting spin-off would be Valayria's history. Surely, fans would love to see the great Valayrian kingdom, home to Targaryens at its height of glory and what led to its doom.
