Not everyone thinks of curating a show to bring together the exclusive collections of weavers, artisans and designers from all over India under one roof. Delhi is set to host such an event on March 4. Named 'The Wishlist', the one-day show will bring together the best of fashion, lifestyle, Indian textiles and home, and will be held in Mehrauli.

Explaining the concept behind the show, Sadhana Talwar Mehta, founder, The Wishlist, says, "My major intent is to support handloom. The idea behind The Wishlist is to promote made in India products. I went to Banaras where I got in touch with Sribhas (Sribhas Chandra Supakar), who won the Padma Shri for textile designing. I also met the local weavers and learnt about their works and then handpicked all the products. They have also been invited for the show to sell their products."

Through the show, Mehta wants to highlight the supreme talents hidden within the vastness of India, to share their treasures with the true admirers of art and craft. "I am trying to encourage the weavers to come forward and sell their own products and get their own identity out. For this, I don't charge any stall charges from them and instead, get the materials from their regions and invite them. Through this platform, I help customers to connect with their source and get in touch with the people who make these products. The idea is to eliminate middlemen,” she says.

This will be the fifth season of the show, which will see an amalgamation of art, crafts, decor and food. Adding stars to the show will be acclaimed names such as NIMAI with exquisite jewellery, Urvashi Kaur and Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta for stylish apparel, Vriksh for traditional Odisha sarees and upcoming artists such as Ulupi for contemporary Indian clothing with colour blocking and kalamkari, and Marm with beautiful chanderi work. Besides these, Happy Belly! will also be present with their delicious and healthy treats.
