The Bengaluru police have denied permission for actress Sunny Leone to perform at a New Year's event at White Orchid hotel in the city. Speaking to Times of India, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that the permission was denied in anticipation of law and order problems, as pro-Kannada outfits are protesting against her visit. One of her recent shows in Kochi had morphed into a full-blown circus; they had taken inputs from Kochi police, he said.

Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene, a pro-Kannada group, had held protests in Bengaluru against Bollywood actor Sunny Leone's New Year eve event.

They threatened to commit mass suicide if Leone performed. The organisation called such events 'an assault on Kannada culture'.
