The song from Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai is a groovy wedding number

The peppy Gujarati dandiya song, Saarattu Vandiyila, from Director Mani Ratnam’s new movie Kaatru Veliyidai, is likely to become the omnipresent wedding song this season. After Vaan Varuvaan and Azhagiye, a fusion and a romantic number respectively, the A R Rahman-Mani Ratnam combo has brought about sheer magic, yet again in the new single, jazzed up with melodious strings.

With shots of Aditi Rao Hydari and Karthi, drenched in a rainbow of colours, and the soulful audio track in the background, the recently released minute promo of Saarattu Vandiyila, has already seen lakhs of hits. While the video of the sound track is still awaited, the third-single track released online looks to cast a spell on the audience.

The movie is a romantic drama featuring Karthi as a pilot. He will be seen romancing Hydari, who plays the role of a doctor. The film is now into post-production and the shooting was wrapped up in December 2016. Produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, it has Shraddha Srinath, Rukimini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji, Delhi Ganesh and veteran Malayam actress Lalitha playing important roles.

The new Mani Ratnam-movie is slated to be released in Tamil and Telugu on April 7. The teaser and trailer, released over the past two months, have managed to capture the imaginations of Ratnam's fans, assuring that it will be no less than the previous 24 films of his 33-year old  film career.

Unlike the usual wedding numbers, the new track is a bit on the slower side but catchy. Rao, clad in a wedding gagra, shines in the stills part of the video, with her dazzling eyes.

While the audio singles are getting released periodically, audience still have to wait to know what the Mani Ratnam-Rahman combo has to offer for their fans this time through Kaatru Veliyidai. With audience already grooving to the sound tracks, the combo has succeeded to reinvent the wheel once again.

Right from Roja to the latest, the duo have always straddled different genres and Kaatru Veliyidai, according to industry sources, will be yet another blockbuster, both in terms of music and script.
