Performing Milk abhishekams for his life-size cut outs or worshipping his cut outs are nothing new for superstar Rajinikanth's fans. This time, during the release of Kabali, many fans did away with milk abhishekams, but went berserk with Kabali T-shirts and spent big money for the FDFS (first day first show).
But more than the craziness on the day of the release was something that would surprise even Rajinikanth and Kabali’s director Pa Ranjith. Superstar’s fans in Tiruchirappalli on Sunday reportedly performed animal sacrifice to ward off the evil eyes that might hamper Kabali's success.
The fans, who gathered at the Thennur Ukkira Kali temple in Tiruchirappalli slaughtered five goats. The deity Kali is regarded as a Goddess who would ward off evil spirits and evil eyes.
“We want all his upcoming films to be a big success. There are many who envy at our Thalaivar's success. We want Kabali to be more successful, and his next Robot 2.0 to be bigger than this,” say the fans.
Kabali, released on July 22, had made Rs 113 crore in India in the last two weeks making it one of the most successful Tamil films in the box office. The movie made Rs 48 crore on the very first day of its release. Its producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu claimed that the first weekend gross was Rs 320 crore across the globe.
Despite critics calling it a movie talking caste politics, Kabali’s success in the box office had thrilled Rajini fans. The actor himself had recently called it a revolutionary and emotional subject while thanking his fans and the production team.
