As the country reeled under the shock of demise of Shashi Kapoor, one of the iconic actors of his generation, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had one extra worry on his head.

As some observant Twitter users pointed out, some media organisations wrongly mentioned Shashi Tharoor instead of Shashi Kapoor as the one who recently passed away.

"We are getting condolence calls in the office! Reports of my demise are, if not exaggerated, at least premature," he playfully tweeted.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah replied to the tweet, saying, "As much as some of these channels dislike me they’ve never killed me off. You have a unique distinction here Shashi."

Veteran actor and producer Shashi Kapoor had died on Monday at a hospital in Mumbai. He was 79.

Third and the youngest son of late Prithviraj Kapoor and brother of late Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, Shashi underwent a cataract surgery in 2012.

Married to Anglo-Indian theatre actress Jennifer Kendal, Shashi had three children—Kunal, Karan and Sanjana Kapoor.

Shashi made his debut with Yash Chopra's Dharamputra in 1961.
