The Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments will petition the Supreme Court against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. According to reports, the court will consider the petition on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court had earlier struck down the bans imposed by several states on the controversial movie Padmaavat, clearing the way for its release on January 25.

The movie, which was initially named Padmavati, had been in the news for several months owing to protests by Rajput groups. The movie's name was changed earlier this month and the producers also agreed to make several cuts.

Despite the changes, several states including Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh had banned its screening, following which its producers appealed to the Supreme Court.
