Kamal Hassan is back home

'Ad'vantage point Kamal Hassan had slipped and fallen on the stairs of his office and fractured his leg

Twenty one days after he fractured his right leg, actor Kamal Hassan, who was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for a minor surgery, got back home. He is said to have gone back to his house in the East Coast Road in Chennai, where he is being cared for by his actress wife Gautami and his daughters.

On July 14, after returning from the first schedule in the US of his upcoming Trilingual film Sabash Naidu, Kamal Hassan reportedly slipped and fell down the stairs in his Alwarpet office in Chennai, fracturing his right leg. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Chennai, where he had to undergo a minor surgery for speedy recovery. The shooting of Sabash Naidu, sources say, had to be put on hold as both Kamal Hassan and director T.K. Rajeev Kumar were ill.

Earlier, Rajeev was suffering from high fever and was admitted to the hospital in US. Following Rajeev’s illness, Kamal took over direction and had tweeted saying he would handle the project till Rajeev recovers.

Sabash Naidu is a trilingual film, shot in the US, where Kamal plays the lead role as a RAW officer. The role is based on Balram Naidu, the popular character in his earlier Tamil film Dasavatharam, which was a box office hit in 2010. The movie also stars his daughter Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Brahmanandam, Saurabh Shukla and Roger Narayanan in the lead roles. Shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously, this is said to be Kamal Hassan’s pet project.

Earlier, a week after he was admitted to the hospital and when he was recuperating after the surgery, Kamal in his voice message to his fans and well wishers said, “Be it a mishap or trouble, the love showered by fans, friends and well-wishers is amazing. What else could I say.” He also said that he stood up and was able to walk a few steps.

Sources say Kamal would get back to shooting of Sabash Naidu soon, as the film is slated for release early next year.
