Known for his exceptional works in landscapes, Kolkata-based artist Bikash Poddar is back with another solo art show titled 'Kaleido-scapes: Nature in Vibrant Hues'. The show will feature 25 of his works and will take place on March 24-25, 2017 at Gallerie Ganesha, New Delhi. In this show, the artist will bring out landscape and figurative paintings.

Each painting is different in nature. The landscape paintings are based on the rural areas and figurative ones are created on women. “My favourite medium is watercolours. I use wash technique in watercolours. The paintings beautifully showcase the movement of shadow. One of the paintings is based on Shiva, where he has been showcased with blue neck whereas the body has been painted with black colour,” says Poddar.

Portraying the fine blend of Indian miniatures and Chinese calligraphic art, the artist's landscapes reflect a translucent glow of colour (that Bengal art assimilated from Chinese and Japanese calligraphic art) blended with the detailed portrayal of monuments and human figures from our own miniatures. His paintings depict landscapes in miniature format with highly detailed architecture.

Born in 1954, Poddar studied in Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata and completed five year of diploma in Applied Art. Before practising as a full fledged artist, he was  in an advertising agency as a Senior Art Director for 15 years.
