As the nation got to know ‘Why Kattapa killed Baahubali’ on Friday, the S.S. Rajamouli-directed magnum opus has now become the first film in the history to cross Rs 100 cr on the first day of its release.
According to a report from Box Office India, the first day looked to be closing at Rs 35-40 crore range for the Hindi version.
The movie, starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah, was released in more than 6,500 screens in India and 9,000 screens across the world, the highest for an Indian film till date.
Though the exact numbers are to be revealed soon, the early estimates are as follows:
Hindi markets- Rs 35 crore (includes all versions released in Mumbai, north, central and eastern India)
Nizam/Andhra- Rs 45 crore
Tamil Nadu - Rs 14 crore
Karnataka- Rs 10 crore
Kerala- Rs 4 crore
