Avengers reunite for the final showdown with Thanos

"There was an idea..." An idea to bring the greatest heroes of the universe (Marvel Cinematic Universe, that is) together and face off against the ultimate baddie.

Today, the makers of this franchise gave its fans a sneak peek into the culmination of this idea―presenting, the trailer of Avengers: Infinity War I.

Every movie in the MCU so far led up to this one; every individual film converges on this. The trailer depicts the arrival of Marvel's epic villain, Thanos, right in the middle of New York city.

He has arrived to gather six infinity stones, which will allow him to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. But, in his way, stand the Avengers.

And boy, the war is on!

The grand trailer shows all the heroes in the Marvel universe (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, all the GOTG, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Vision, Scarlet Witch, need we go on?). And, just like when Spider-Man's 'spidey sense' tingles, it promises to give you the goosebumps.

The movie also marks the convergence of the world of Avengers and that of Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG), which is probably the coolest aspect of the movie.

In the trailer, it looks like Thor's bipolar brother, Loki, either made a deal with Thanos or was forced to surrender the Tesseract (space stone).

We've seen glimpses of Thanos in previous movies (like the GOTG) but this is the first movie where Josh Brolin will actually play Thanos, and not just voice him.

The Avengers take on an army (obviously) towards the end of the trailer, which we guess is probably Thanos's alien army. Also, if you've watched a Marvel movie, you are well aware of the post-credits obsession. Similarly, there's one exciting scene right at the end of the trailer. Check it out for yourselves!

The movie releases on May 2018. The last MCU movie was Thor: Ragnarok and there is one more movie before Infinity War comes out―Black Panther (Feb 2018)

Infinity War will be the first movie in a two-part series, which will also be the final one in Marvel's phase three, which is the ultimate showdown.

So, grab your popcorn (and your nerdy friends), folks. This May is going to blow your mind.
