Alia Bhatt to be seen next in 'Raazi'

After Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya earlier this year, there’s been a lot of speculation around Alia Bhatt’s next film. The actor, who did back-to-back films after her debut with Student Of The Year (2012), hadn’t announced anything after BKD. Mentor Karan Johar, however, took to Twitter to announce her next, Raazi. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is an espionage thriller, and will see Alia playing a Kashmiri girl married to a Pakistani army officer. The film is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel, Calling Sehmat. Starring alongside Alia is Vicky Kaushal. As reported, his character gives the Indian intelligence valuable inputs during 1971 Indo-Pak war saving the lives of many Indian soldiers. In a statement Kaushal said, “I'm honoured to be getting an opportunity to work with Meghana Gulzar and also looking forward to working with Alia, who I feel is one of the finest actresses we have at the moment.”

War sequence costs Rs 1 crore

Touted as the “Baahubali” of television, Goldie Behl’s much-awaited historical fantasy Aarambh, produced by Srishti Behl, is set to go on air from June 24 on Star Plus. To keep it true to the genre, director Goldie and producer Srishti are leaving no stone unturned to make it visually appealing and larger-than-life for the television audience.

The show that features Rajniesh Duggall, veteran actress Tanuja and Karthika Nair in prominent roles will have one of the biggest war sequence witnessed on Indian television. The makers claim to have spent a crore on just the war sequence featuring 1,500 artistes as soldiers. The teaser is already receiving rave reviews for its VFX. Goldie says, “With the writer of Baahubali, K.V. Vijayendra Prasad on board, the idea is to make Aarambh a larger-than-life experience, something which television audience has never witnessed. The canvas on which it has been shot was huge – the war sequence, sets, the costumes, treatment of scenes, VFX, etc.”

The magnum-opus has been shot in Manali, Kathmandu and Kashmir where huge sets were erected to capture the story of the fight between two clans – the Aryans and the Dravidians. The show, written by K.V Vijayendra Prasad (the writer of Baahubali, Baahubali 2) can give a new lease of life to Indian fantasy shows.

Tigmanshu Dhulia’s next on Red Fort trial

The last couple of directorial ventures by Tigmanshu Dhulia haven’t been too successful. He has had his critically-acclaimed moments in films like Paan Singh Tomar, Haasil, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster, etc. Now, the director, who has been very actively acting in a couple of projects of late, is coming back to the fore as a director with Raagdesh, a the story based on the famous Red Fort trial of the three INA officers – Shah Nawaz Khan, Prem Sahgal and Gurubaksh Singh Dhillon – that changed the course of India's freedom struggle. Written also by Dhulia, the film will feature Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Mohit Marwah in key roles. The teaser of the film was released on Friday while the trailer is slated to be launched in the Parliament House on June 28.
