With a barrage of beauty professionals working to make Bollywood celebrities, especially actresses, look beautiful, most of us think they wake up exactly how they look onscreen – pretty. But that’s not true, says Kalki Koechlin.

Like common people, actresses have bad beauty days and need stop-gap remedies too! “Like you, we need quick-fixes too! There are times when on the day of an event you get a pimple and you have to cover it. You do anything and figure out hasty remedies like applying toothpaste on the zit a night before. Similarly, it’s common to wake up with under eye dark circles because you have not slept enough,” she says.

“So, there are always things which go wrong on the day of the shoot or event. And you have to figure out ways to fix it,” says Kalki, who was recently in the national capital to launch Gillette Venus Breeze, a hair removal product for women along with celebrity make-up artist Namrata Soni and celebrity dermatologist Rashmi Shetty.

While actresses refrain from speaking openly about their beauty troubles, dressed in a mauve flared knee-length dress, the 33-year-old actor cites an example to explain it.

“For instance, this morning I almost forgot to shave. After I wore my dress and we had finished full make-up and hair when I was leaving the room I realized it. In a bid to refrain from taking off the dress, I used a razor and here I am.”

Besides, being candid she is known for playing unusual characters on screen. She started her career in Bollywood with Dev D, where she played a young girl who ends up becoming a prostitute and earned loads of critical acclaim for it. Later, she was seen her acting prowess in films like Shaitan, That Girl In Yellow Boots, My Friend Pinto, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Waiting, Margarita with a Straw, to name some.
