How often do you see the ravishing Kangana Ranaut donning a vibrant, gold brocaded sari, decked with ornaments and balancing a pot full of good coins in her hands? Ranaut appears as goddess Lakshmi in a new promotional video for the Swachh Bharat Mission. With this video that is trending on social media, the government has gone a step further in infusing life and creativity into its pet project. Bollywood biggies have been roped in to endorse the message of cleanliness, in a rather unique way.

Cleanliness is next to godliness, we have been taught for ever. And, so says Amitabh Bachchan's voice-over which adds depth to the video. The video titled 'Don't Let Her Go' reiterates this message to educate the common man about the importance of cleanliness, not just in our homes, but in public places, too. The goddess is seen as moving apart and leaving households of those who dump garbage.

At the launch of the video, the Queen actor said that she was extremely lazy and hated taking baths. Life changed after she adopted a few techniques for personal hygiene. "I started with external cleanliness.... It is a basic exercise. When I started adopting that, things started changing in life. Now, I take shower, stay clean and make sure I don't litter. I haven't littered for the past 12 years."

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the promotional video also features Isha Koppikar, Ravi Kishan and Omkar Kapoor.

If you have forgotten the Swachh Bharat Mission, this is the government's way of hammering it in again.
