Prime Minister Narendra Modi would officiate at the annual general meeting of the World Economic Forum, which is to be hosted in the Davos, Switzerland, later this month.

The theme of this year's World Economic Forum annual meeting is "Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World". The Indian Prime Minister would be the first one to attend the annual meeting of WEF from 1997.

Also in attendance will be 350 politicians and 60 heads of states, including chief executive officers of the most important companies and over 1000 leaders from all walks of life, an official statement read.

Prime Minister Modi will address the inaugural plenary session on January 23, and also meet several global business leaders in Davos. He is also slated to interact with 120 top CEOs of transnational corporations across sectors, informed Arun Jaitley, Union finance minister during an address here.

Prime Minister Modi will be accompanied on the trip by a delegation comprising of his key cabinet colleagues—finance minister Arun Jaitley, commerce minister Suresh Prabhu, railways and coal minister, Piyush Goyal, oil and gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan, junior minister PMO and for north-east region Jitendra Singh, and junior minister foreign affairs M.J. "The ministers would be representing India in about 25 sessions organised on various themes. The Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy under the commerce ministry would also be closely involved to demonstrate the major reforms undertaken by the government," said Suresh Prabhu, Union commerce minister.

Among the major achievements to be highlighted by Prime Minister Modi would include bringing in $195 billion in foreign direct investments, a recent 30 rank jump in the Ease of Doing Business rankings of World Bank, GST as the biggest tax reform, formulating banking and insolvency code and drive for Aadhar-seeding of services among others.
