455 markets connected electronically under eNAM: Govt

The government said around 455 markets in 13 states have been integrated with the electronic National Agriculture Market (eNAM) and it has a target to connect 585 markets across the country by March next year.

eNAM is an electronic portal to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.

"For this purpose, financial assistance of Rs 30 lakh per market was given. This has been increased to Rs 75 lakh per mandi in Union Budget for 2017-18. In addition, the software and a mandi analyst for a year is also being provided to each mandi," Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala informed the Lok Sabha.

Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of markets connected under eNAM, that is 100, while Madhya Pradesh has 58, Haryana 54 and Maharashtra 45 markets.
