The energy is infectious and excitement is palpable at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), where entrepreneurship is being celebrated like never before. On day two of Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017, the 1500 odd participants could be seen networking, attending sessions, getting inspired and most importantly promoting their respective ventures. Some of the active women members of Hyderabad’s startup ecosystem, who were invited to the event, talked about their plans and experience.

“It feels very privileged to be a part of the summit and also to witness the next big change to come,” said Renuka Rathode, product strategist, Zebi Data India Pvt. Ltd.

“The summit is designed to get the women global leaders share their challenges and experiences of running a business. Being a young women entrepreneur, starting up in India at the age of 22, I faced challenges and found my own ways to solve them. Being here, it is really nice to see the bigger picture which will help take our start-ups to the global level.”

Some like Vaishali, are keeping their fingers crossed. The Hyderabad-based entrepreneur has been selected to make a business pitch along with 23 others.

“This event is great for prospective business. I will be pitching for investment for my startup. My product will make it easier for any professional, who is non-coder, to create their augmented reality model. I am confident that investors will show interest in my venture,” said Vaishali Neotia, CEO and co-founder, Merxius.

Exploring the possibilities of collaboration have also drawn some of entrepreneurs to the summit.

Pankaj Diwan, Managing Director of Idea Labs, is looking for global partnerships.

“I am not here for funding. I am exploring global market for tie-ups. I have been associated with blockchain, IoT and cyber security related startups. I am looking at a model where we can provide market access and local knowledge to our partners,” he said.

Hosting a global event will have positive impact on Hyderabad, according to Vishala Reddy, a social entrepreneur who was involved in organising conventions in India and abroad.

“The Global Entrepreneurship Summit will help in the economic transformation of the city,” she said. “This is a great branding opportunity for Telangana government. Bringing 1500 entrepreneurs to Hyderabad will also boost the tourism sector and give locals access global decision-makers. This summit is more significant than conducting 200 road shows,” said Vishala.
