Finding huge potential in the South India market Jet Airways is now set to link Bengaluru with Amsterdam with a daily non-stop flight from October 29 and also a direct flight to Paris from Chennai launching at the same time. The airline is aiming to connect the rest of South India with Amsterdam through Bengaluru. As far as the airline is concerned it will be its third connectivity from India to the Netherlands. The airline already operates daily flights to the Dutch capital from Delhi and Mumbai.

The airline hopes that the introduction of its direct intercontinental flights from Bengaluru will boost corporate and leisure travel and also contribute towards cross border trade and commerce. The new service is also expected to enhance its cumulative daily cargo capacity to Europe by as much as 15 tonnes facilitating increase in trade of various commodities such as flowers, perishables, pharmaceuticals, heavy machinery, garments, electrical and medical equipment, auto parts as well as exotic food items.

“This daily flight from Bengaluru to Amsterdam will also facilitate seamless one-stop access from Amsterdam to 64 destinations across Europe and North America, with our codeshare partners. We feel that the growing middle class population and the corporate clients are expected to give us good business,” said Vinay Dube, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways.

Dube also remarked that the company is not evaluating any Airbus A380 aircraft currently. “We feel that though the Airbus A380 is a great aircraft it does not come as part of our strategy,” he said.

“Netherlands is the hub for 20 per cent of all Indian exports to the European Union and the hub for many Indian companies who are increasingly choosing the Netherlands as the ideal location for their European headquarters or distribution centres. The number of visas being issued to Indian citizens is increasing at 25 per cent per year. In 2017, the Netherlands received 30 per cent more Indian tourists than last year,” remarked H.E. Alphonsus H.M. Stoelinga, Ambassador of the Netherlands to India.

In order to attract more travelers on the route Jet Airways is offering a Rs 40,000 return trip fare (economy class) from Amsterdam to Bengaluru this month.
