Recently, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur implemented CampusNexus -- a campus management solution from Campus Management India, the Indian arm of the US-based Campus Management Corp. Ever since the solution went live at the institute, the benefits started coming in. The institute was able to roll out its recruitment and retention programme, the solution helping in centralising and automating key processes and administrative functions at the institute.

It also helped in improving student services. From an operational perspective, each and every function at the various departments became streamlined and automated. Functions such as admissions, academics, student accounts, finance, human resources and compliance management have benefitted from the implementation of this campus management solution.

The company also rolled out its solution at the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The strategy was to centralise and monitor all skilling programs across ministries and agencies. The solution enables citizen services to be accessible over the Internet, through mobile phones, kiosks, call centres as well as through personal computers.

Currently, there are around 7500 skilling centres that are registered with the NSDC and close to 10 million users. They work with the centre to get course content. At the backend, the skilling is done and the candidate data is uploaded.

“Our solution helps educational institutions to gain greater visibility and improve communications across its departments. It also helps automate functions, from strategic enrolment management and financial aid to career services and alumni relations. Besides, this campus management solution also provides visibility into students’ experiences, needs and enables highly personalised communications and services," said Rajendra C Mruthyunjayappa, Managing Director, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East-Campus Management, told THE WEEK.

"The potential for campus management solutions in India is great as there are around 34,000 colleges and 750 universities in India and many of them have only automated parts of their departments. We are aiming at an end-to-end implementation. An institute or university can automate and manage everything from brand building, student admissions, linking an alumni network through a campus management solution,” he said.

The CampusNexus solution also includes an admissions process which is helping universities improve recruitment results and maximise yield. In addition to this, the solution also helps in managing student’s retention at universities. “We observed that student retention is one of the biggest concerns facing higher educational institutes today and they need a way to proactively identify and engage students. Our solution is offering a retention configuration tool that embodies communications, campaigns, and work flows for keeping students engaged and achieve success. Besides India, we have also implemented our solution at some foreign universities in countries such as Uganda and Tunisia,” added Mruthyunjayappa.

In order to cater to small colleges the company is also offering SmartCampus that unites and automates functions such as admissions, communication and collaboration, HR and payroll, facility management, operational analytics, student information, examinations among others on a single platform. The suite is aimed at enabling colleges to gain better control over their day to day operations while complying with local regulatory norms.
