The Golden Triangle of tourism (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur) may change into a Golden Square with the addition of a fourth point – Amritsar. Punjab's deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal is attempting just that.

After the Heritage Road leading to the Golden Temple, it is a hop-on hop-off double decker bus for visitors to Amritsar.

Sukhbir Badal, who has more than once spoken about how Europe and the rest of the western world inspires him in terms of infrastructure development, said the hop-on hop-off would take tourists to 16 beautiful spots in the "Guru ki Nagri". Modelled after the ones in London, a single ticket will allow passengers to hop on to a bus, hop off wherever they feel like, and hop on to the next one later, thus using it all through the day.

As of now, three buses have been put on the roads. This will be doubled in due course, Badal said, adding that these will go a long way in making the holy city the hub of tourism in North India.

The deputy chief minister and his sister Parneet Kaur Kairon also inaugurated an amphibious bus on what he called the "Harike Cruise". Harike is a wetland in Punjab, about an hour's drive from Amritsar. Imported from Sweden, the bus was assembled in Goa.
