The 8th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit concluded in Gandhinagar on Thursday with the state government announcing that Micro Small and Medium Enterprises led the number of MoUs and LoIs. The 2017 summit, a biennial event since 2003, saw Business2Business meetings on its fourth and final day on Friday.

Speaking at the valedictory function, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel said that a total of 25,578 MoUs were signed this year, an increase of 2,500 MoUs from last edition. However, unlike the previous editions, the state government refrained from giving amount of the MoUs.

Following his predecessor Narendra Modi's foot steps, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani extended invitation for the 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in 2019. He said that the event would help in establishing Gujarat as a gateway to Indian economy.

Rupani said that the GIFT City would create 10 lakh jobs in the years to come. On January 9, Modi had inaugurated BSE's international operations there.

The 8th edition of the summit had 12 partner countries. CEOs, businessmen and top politicians from more than 100 countries participated. Out of more than 74,000 registered delegates, over 2,700 delegates were from abroad.
