YOGA MADE EASY

Bend it right

  • MODEL: YUKTHA JAYAGOPAL

The trunk and legs are closely linked. Together they make many movements possible. Many yoga postures benefit this system. Here is one such technique that uses the walls to do the triangle posture. The walls help get better alignment and support. Also, the stretch in the leg muscles is enhanced.

METHOD

* Choose a corner where two walls meet.

* Stand straight with back to one wall, and 3-4 feet away from the wall perpendicular to it.

* Flex the knees and place the left foot inclined against the wall, the heel pressing against the floor and toes against the wall.

* Place the left palm on the wall and the right hand on the waist.

* Straighten the left leg, pull the knee cap and push down the root of the thigh.

* Turn the right foot in and press the outer edge of the right foot.

* Keep the right leg straight and pull the knee cap.

* Keep the pelvis in balance and gently bend to the left.

* Flex the left elbow and slide the palm down the wall.

* The more the inclination of the foot, the better the stretch.

* Stay in the posture for 30-60 seconds.

* Slowly come up and change side.
