Affordable 4G VoLTE phone

  • 'Admire Swadesh' from ZenMobile offers a choice of 22 Indian language keyboards

Smart phones capable of harnessing the latest 4G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology were pricey and somewhat rare this time last year. All that has changed: Indian handset brands have been among the most proactive in making state state-of-the-art phones affordable by the masses.

The latest launch from ZenMobile—'Admire Swadesh'— lives up to its name: with from the main screen for the Swalekh keyboard

The dual-SIM phone powered by a 1.3 GHz quad chip, offers a 5 inch screen with 5MP AF Rear camera with flash, and 2 MP front camera, with 1GB RAM and 8 GB storage expandable to 32 GB. The 2000 mAh battery is just adequate.

An interesting software feature is that it allows users to set up two WhatsApp accounts for the two SIMs. The makers are throwing in a screen guard and a case—small things but they are usually priced third-party extras. The operating system is the Android Marshmallow 6.0. Version 7 is not yet available easily except on Google-made devices.

For someone on a limited budget—like the asking price of Rs 4990—this is a great way of accessing the superior speeds and the data-driven voice quality of 4G VoLTE.
