A CCTV footage showing a shocking incident of a doctor brutally assaulting two men at a hospital has surfaced online. The man collapsed and died on the spot during the attack, while his companion, who tried to defend him was also beaten up by the doctor.

The incident took place on December 29 at Belgorod municipal hospital in southwestern Russia. In the video, doctor barges into a room along with a woman staff. After the woman points a finger at the shirtless patient, who was being examined by another nurse, the doctor shouting "you touched my nurse,” drags him off the examination table and begins to attack him.

When the patient's companion tried to protect him, he was also repeatedly punched by the doctor. In course of the fight, the patient can be seen falling unconscious after receiving a fatal blow to his head.

It is only after a few minutes, nursing staff notice the patient has been lying motionless and tries to revive him in vain.

The 56-year-old victim died of trauma to the skull and brain from hitting the back of the head on the hard surface of the floor, said reports.

The shocking video is going viral on the social media and is repeatedly being aired by Russian TV news channels.

The accused doctor was identified as Ilya Zelendinov and the patient as Yevgeny Bakhtin, according to reports.

The accused, a surgeon at the hospital was fired from the job and a criminal case for causing death by negligence has been filed against him. The accused is not taken into the custody as he as signed a declaration that he will not travel during the course of the investigation.

If he is found guilty, he will be sentenced to two years in prison.
