Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) urged its members to cash in on the economic impact on European Union after Britain voted to move out of the Union on Thursday. The jihadist group also called for atttacks on various European cities to 'paralyse' the continent.

Earlier in May, British Prime Minister David Cameron had warned that the Islamic State would be happy if his country decided to leave the EU.

Citing SITE intelligence group, the Mirror reported that a jihadi Telegram praised the economic chaos that came in the wake of the EU referendum and urged followers to strike at the heart of mainland Europe.

“At a time when Muslims are uniting under the flag of the Caliphate, Europe is choosing to divide and split. The victory is close with the help of God,” tweeted one supporter of ISIS, according a report in the vocative.com.

The report further said, one of the three threads discussing the referendum online, is titled “God is great, Europe is destroyed.”

UK military chiefs have warned there is a "serious and direct threat to holiday resorts across Europe" from groups like ISIS.

"There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria," the UK's Foreign Office (FCO) was quoted as saying.

In a crucial poll held on Thursday, Britain has voted to leave the European Union, an outcome that would set the country on an uncertain path and deal the largest setback to European efforts to forge greater unity since World War Two.
