WADA lock on Narsingh

WADA lock on Narsingh (File) Wrestler Narsingh Yadav

Wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s reprieve from the National National Anti-Doping Agency might come to naught as the world body has summoned him for a hearing on the doping scandal that hit had headlines ahead of the Olympics.

“The World Anti-Doping Agency has appealed against the NADA clearance in the Court of Arbitration,” said Rakesh Gupta, chef de mission. No additional information was available from the contingent. If, the WADA rules against Yadav, he could be grounded for four years.

On Tuesday, Hardeep Singh had lost to Turkey’s Cenk Ildem 1-2 on points. Hardeep put up a brave fight for two periods. On Monday, Ravinder Khatri had a first-round loss in the 85kg category to Hungary's Viktor Lorincz. It was a crushing loss at 9-0. So, with the Greco-Roman challenge over, the hope was with the freestyle events. And, with Narsingh under a cloud, the pressure is now on London 2012 bronze-winner Yogeshwar Dutt.
