The Telangana government has decided to construct a new secretariat building complex in place of the existing one. The officials concerned are preparing to shift the offices in the secretariat temporarily to different places. All the offices, including the offices of the ministers, would be shifted to Erramanzil, Basheerbagh, Saifabad, Urdu Galli and BRKR Bhavan.
The state government has decided to construct the new building at a cost of Rs. 500 crore and the Roads and Buildings Department has prepared three draft designs. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is expected to give the 'go ahead' to one of the designs.
The existing secretariat has twelve blocks from A to L, some of which are occupied by the Andhra Pradesh government. The officials of the AP government continue to use the secretariat building for the ease of dealing with certain issues which are still pending in the common capital.
The chief secretary of Telangana is in touch with the AP government and if everything goes according to the Telangana government's plan, the AP government staff would also be asked to shift as the existing building would be demolished.
However, it hasn't been decided when the offices would be shifted. The general administration officials are waiting for the CM to give a date which, as expected, would be given taking into consideration the vaastu guidelines.
