Home Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday even as restrictions continued in many parts of the Valley for the 46th consecutive day on Tuesday.
Singh will be accompanied by Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi.
The visit, which comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the importance of dialogue with people of Kashmir, is expected to lay thrust on outreach to various sections of the society and meetings with state government officials to find ways to restore peace and normalcy.
The state has been witnessing relentless stone throwing incidents and clashes between civilians and security forces ever since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on July 8.
On Monday, a delegation of opposition parties from the state met President Pranab Mukherjee and PM Modi, seeking immediate steps to restore peace in the Valley.
