Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, who had earlier called off his musical programme in Mumbai after threats from the Shiv Sena, is likely to visit the city later this month to attend a music event.
Reports said Ghulam Ali is expected to be in the city on January 29 for the music launch of the upcoming film Ghar Wapsi. The singer has lent his voice to a patriotic song in the film.
The film's director-producer Suhaib Ilyasi said the music launch will also be attended by singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam.
However, all eyes are on the Shiv Sena as it would be the first time Ghulam Ali is visiting the city after his concerts in Mumbai and Pune, scheduled for October 9 and 10, were scrapped.
The Sena had staged protests against the events saying it would not allow any form of cultural or sporting events participated by Pakistani artists or sport-persons in India until the neighbouring country stopped the cross-border terrorism.
The party had recently stormed the BCCI office in Mumbai after reports that India might play a bi-lateral cricket series with Pakistan.
