At least 135 schools in and around Whitefield area in Bengaluru would remain closed on Thursday as a precautionary measure following the rumors of leopard sighting.
The news about leopards being spotted in the area has pressed panic button as the residents have been expressing their concerns on social media.
The Education Department on Wednesday declared a holiday for about 60 schools in and around Whitefield area, where recently a leopard wreaked havoc for several hours after it strayed into a school campus. Meanwhile, the other schools in the area were also not ready to take chances and decided to remain closed.
A 40-member team of forest department is also conducting searches for clues to determine the presence of the leopards in the area, said reports.
According to reports, this week at least three leopards were sighted by the locals. A leopard was sighted by a construction labourer on Wednesday at Nallurhalli, near Whitefield, while two other big cats were spotted on Tuesday by Vibgyor High in Marathahalli, where a big cat was rescued recently.
