Hyderabad Police on Saturday filed a case against Ravela Susheel, son of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister R. Kishore Babu for allegedly misbehaving with a woman on a busy road at Banjara Hills in the city. Susheel's driver Appa Rao was also booked by the police.
Based on a complaint by a 20-year-old woman, the city police have served a notice on Susheel after registering a case under section 354(D) of the Nirbhaya Act.
In her complaint, the woman, who works as a teacher in a private school, alleged that a car, with 'MLA' sticker pasted on it, followed her when she was returning from school on Thursday. The car driver passed some lewd comments and asked her to get into the vehicle. When she refused, they tried to pull her inside the vehicle.
However, the woman raised an alarm following which her husband and some locals chased the car and caught hold of the accused and manhandled them. The complainant said both the driver and the minister’s son were in an inebriated condition.
Initially, the police registered a case only against the driver. Later, Susheel was also charged with trying to molest the woman.
“We have registered a case under section 345(D) of the Nirbhaya Act against both the persons. We have formed a special police team to arrest them,” said a senior police officer. A police team visited the minister’s residential quarter located in Banjara Hills and handed over the notice to its staff.
Susheel, however, denied the charge and issued a statement on Facebook alleging that the case was a deliberate attempt by some people to malign his image
