A 13-year-old girl who was fasting for 68 days to help her father's jewellery business died after she collapsed and slipped into a coma.
Aradhana, an VIII standard student of St. Francis school in Secunderabad, was forced to undertake the fasting for her father's business. A priest advised the parents that if their daughter observed fast for at least four months the father's business will thrive. Aradhana was allegedly forced to fast for 68 days.
Though the incident happened on October 2, the news came to light only on Friday when the Balala Hakkula Sangam lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy. The Sangam has sought action against the parents.
