Once again, it's time to rock on to the music of life set on the notes of friendship and emotions with 'Magik'.
Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli are back, with new band members—Shraddha Kapoor and Titli actor Shashank Arora—with a sequel to the 2008 music drama, Rock On.
Last night, teasing the Rock On fans, Kapoor Tweeted: “Made it into the band. Hanging with the coolest guys in town.” Today, the actors took Twitter by storm by releasing the first poster of Rock On 2 on the social media platform.
The poster oozes energy and hints at a much darker tone to the film compared to the first film which rode high on the theme of friendship and living one's dream. Rock On was about four young friends who come together to form Magik, a college rock band, but part ways because of personal differences. Eventually their friendship and the love for their music bring them together for one last public performance as Magik.
For Rock On, Rampal bagged the National Award for best supporting actor for his role as a distraught guitarist who is torn between the love for his family and that for the music he lived with his friends. The film also introduced to the world the excellent vocalist in Akhtar, who has been giving live performances in India and abroad.
Rock On 2 is expected to take the story forward from there. The sequel is said to be set in Shillong, popularly known as India's rock capital. As per reports, the film will also include a folk song Khassi and might even feature Shillong's popular band Summersalt. In June, Akhtar had posted a picture of himself with the members of Summersalt, confirming a recording with them.
While Rock On was directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the sequel is crafted by Shujaat Saudagar. Besides new additions, the cast remains more or less the same and so does the team that gave the music to the first film, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Rock On 2 is set to release on November 11.
