With just a few hours to go for Vikram’s Iru Mugan to hit the screens, the sci-fi action thriller is looked at as a crucial movie in the actor's career. Made by young director Anand Shankar, Iru Mugan is expected to take 'Chiyaan’ to the stature of a complete actor.
Vikram plays a dual role in the movie—the role of a smart and shrewd RAW agent called Akilan and that of an arch-villain, rumoured to be a transgender character, in the name of ‘Love’. Vikram's fans believe that his touch in essaying a different character, like in his earlier movies Anniyan and I, would prove that he is still a force to reckon with in the Tamil cinema industry.
Iru Mugan, meaning Two Face, is an adventure thriller to be released in two languages—Tamil and Telugu. Produced by Shibu Thameens, the movie also stars the most successful south Indian actor Nayanthara along with Nithya Menen and Nassar. With music by Harris Jayaraj and camera by R.D. Rajasekhar, the audio and trailer of Iru Mugan has already got several million hits signalling that it would be the next big movie from Kollywood after Rajinikanth’s Kabali.
Being his second film, Anand Shankar had taken much pains in scripting the antagonist and the character ‘Love’ played by Vikram. As seen in the trailer, ‘Love’, the cross-dressing character, is expected to be a wonder created by Shankar’s script and Vikram’s performance.
Though Vikram has donned several roles in a single movie, this would be the first time the actor is delivering a dual role with both the characters completely different from each other. And for the national award winning actor, who had played challenging roles in his earlier movies, Iru Mugan is all set to prove successful in the box office.
Only two of the eleven movies Vikram did from 2005 to 2015 have proved big in the box-office. However, with expectations running high, Iru Mugan, produced at a cost of around Rs.85 crore, is expected to enthral the Tamil and Telugu film buffs.
