Harry Potter and the Cursed Child could very well be your last rendezvous with the boy wizard

After almost 20 years, seven novels, three additional books and eight-film series, it is time to bid adieu to the boy who lived. Yes, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child could very well be your last rendezvous with the boy wizard.

On Saturday, at the London premiere of Cursed Child’s stage production, author J.K. Rowling announced the printed script of the play to be the last of the Harry Potter series. Rowling told media, “[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know,” she told Reuters. “I’m thrilled to see it realised so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

After over a month of preview runs, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child officially opened to the public at London’s Palace Theatre on Saturday and is set to run through December 2017.

With shattering pre-order records and bookstores opening their doors to host late-night shoppers, the printed script has brought back the frenzy surrounding the Harry Potter books, the kind of which has not been witnessed since 2007, during the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final novel of the series.
