Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists in Mangaluru stopped the screening of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale on Sunday evening.
Some of the theatre owners said the film will not be screened on Monday as well.
According to media reports, the activists staged protests in front of multiplexes that were screening the film in Mangaluru and a theatre in Surathkal, forcing theatre owners to cancel the screening. Protests were organised in front of City Centre Mall, Forum Fiza Mall and Bharat Mall.
The agitators claimed that they are stopping the screening of the film to protest against the remarks on intolerance made by Khan. They said they are not protesting against the screening because Khan is a Muslim, but because of his remarks.
They said they are yet to decided on allowing further screening of the film. The protestors also asked the theatre owners not screen any movies starring Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
